A 54-year-old man has died following a two-car collision just outside Kinglassie.
The collision, involving a silver Rover 214 and a green BMW, happened just before 7pm on Thursday on the B9097 between Ballingry and Kinglassie, near the Westfield open cast site.
The road was closed for more than four hours for emergency services to investigate.
The man, who was the driver of the Rover, was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline, where he later died.
The Courier understands one of the cars was stationary, having broken down.
The driver of the BMW sustained only minor injuries.
Detective Inspector Mark Anderson, who is leading the investigation, said, “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity at the time who may have seen a broken down vehicle and urge any witnesses to come forward.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Fife police on 01592 418888.
