The water may not have been emerald green but that did not stop a shark from settling in at its new Fife home on St Patrick’s Day.
The shark had been kept in a quarantine tank following its long journey from Ireland, but was released into its new tank at Deep Sea World in North Queensferry on Thursday.
Transferring the 2.2m male sand tiger shark had taken months of planning and was an extremely complex task.
Tina Aydon led a team of divers from the Fife visitor attraction to the south-west tip of Ireland to help capture the creature.
They then accompanied it on its journey to Scotland using the Belfast-to-Stranraer ferry for the crossing.
The team constantly monitored the shark who will be named following a Scouts’ competition throughout the 18-hour mission.
It was then held in a quarantine tank before being successfully moved into its new home to join the aquarium’s other sand tiger sharks.
