Beacon Leisure Centre forced to close hours after reopening

The Beacon Leisure Centre in Burntisland was forced to close its swimming pool again on Tuesday just over 24 hours after it reopened after a lengthy closure.
The pool was deemed out of bounds for a considerable part of the day due to a fault with the heating system but the problem was rectified by early afternoon.
A Fife Sports and Leisure Trust spokesman said, “Due to unforeseen circumstances the swimming pool at the Beacon Leisure Centre had to temporarily close.
“Following recent refurbishment work to the centre the boilers which service the pool’s heating system had been reset to heat the water for full use.
“Unfortunately a pressure regulating gasket then failed overnight.
“We are delighted to announce that repair work has now been completed and the swimming pool will reopen to the public.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused for our customers.”
Monday’s reopening was after weeks of maintenance work, including repairs to the hall’s steel frame and other areas affected by rust.
