Report of ‘atrocious’ speeding at scene of 2004 Kirkcaldy tragedy
ByNews reporter
A driver has been reported for travelling at more than double the speed limit yards from where a 10-year-old boy was killed by a speeder.
The alleged incident in a residential area of Kirkcaldy has outraged Fife’s road safety campaigners, who described it as ”extremely high-risk behaviour”.
MSP David Torrance has backed police, who have stepped up their patrols, and called the speeding ”atrocious”.
The man has been reported to the procurator fiscal in Kirkcaldy after speed cameras recorded him driving at 82mph on Dunnikier Way, which has a limit of just 40mph.
He was detected outside Asda, where 10-year-old Gordon Logan died in 2004 after being hit by a car travelling at 86mph.
The Sinclairtown Primary School pupil was returning home after visiting mother Wendy at work in Asda when he was struck as he crossed the dual carriageway.
The driver was jailed for five years for dangerous driving.
Gordon’s family still leave flowers at the site, but that failed to deter the latest speeder.
