Police have launched a murder investigation after the death of a Kirkcaldy teenager.
Gary Wallace, who was 17, died at Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital on Thursday after sustaining fatal injuries in an alleged attack at Kelso Place in Kirkcaldy at the weekend.
It is understood Mr Wallace leaves behind a baby daughter.
A 23-year-old man appeared in court on an attempted murder charge this week.
The flat in Kelso Place has been cordoned off since the weekend and police have conducted door-to-door inquiries.
Officers were called to the street in the early hours of Sunday. Fife Constabulary said Mr Wallace’s injuries were sustained some time between midnight and 2.30am.
He was taken to Victoria Hospital but later transferred to the Western General.
Detective Inspector Andrew Girdwood, who is leading the investigation, said: ”I would appeal for anyone who has any information, no matter how minor they think it may be, about this incident to contact the police as soon as possible.”
Fife Constabulary can be contacted on 0845 600 5702 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
