A former nurse who is undergoing cancer treatment at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy says people have ”nothing to complain about” regarding the running of the hospital.
Gillian Salmond (58), of Glenrothes, contacted The Courier after reading various reports about people criticising services.
The retired nurse of 35 years, who was in the Vic last week to get teeth extracted ahead of a course of radiotherapy, spent time in ward 18 and said the standards of cleanliness and care were ”excellent”.
She said: ”I had fresh sheets, fresh towels, fresh blankets. I’m speaking as an ex-nurse and I know what to look for. People have got nothing to complain about down there.
“I trained at the Vic all those years ago, so I might be a bit biased but, all in all, it’s a great place and the new facilities are fantastic. The nurses are working very hard and the standards of care are brilliant.”
Health chiefs at NHS Fife have offered assurances that staff adhere to the strictest standards of care and cleanliness at the Vic.
NHS Fife chief executive John Wilson said that levels of cleanliness were constantly monitored and he was satisfied the right level of staffing was in place.
