Negotiations continue at Robert Wiseman Dairies in Cupar

Talks are continuing with staff and unions over the possible culling of almost 70 jobs at a well-known Fife dairy depot.
Robert Wiseman Dairies announced last month that it had entered into a 30-day consultation with workers over closure of its Cupar operation.
Formal consultation comes to a close today but the firm indicated that discussions would continue beyond the deadline. A final decision is not expected to be made imminently.
The dairy firm said it was taking action to balance “facilities with operational requirements.” Closure of the plant is an option, although some of the 68 staff affected may be offered posts at other depots in Aberdeen and Whitburn.
When the news emerged group operations director Martyn Mulcahy insisted that no decision would be made until the company engaged with staff representatives. A strategic review is also to be completed before the fate of the depot and its employees is known.
Robert Wiseman Dairies procures, processes and distributes almost a third of all fresh milk consumed in Britain.
