The Castle Sands were closed earlier this month and the public was warned to stay away. However, The Courier has had reports of people ignoring fences and warning signs and walking down on to the beach. When a Courier photographer visited there were people on the sands, albeit some distance from where the embankment gave way. The landslide has been blamed on heavy rain, but there has also been clifftop erosion, and the beach has had to be closed before. Investigations into the erosion will be conducted by Fife Council next month and will see East Scores closed for four days from May 3.
