Bid to drive problem parking away from Pittencrieff Park
ByCheryl Peebles
The problem of inappropriate parking at a Dunfermline public park will soon be dealt with by traffic wardens.
New regulations are to be introduced to prevent the use of parking spaces at Pittencrieff Park in connection with the sale, repair or washing of vehicles.
They will also allow fines to be issued to those who park outwith marked bays, in disabled bays without blue badges and where vehicles other than buses are parked in bus bays.
The move is being made in response to concerns raised about garages using parking spaces as overspill storage for vehicles.
The addition of the Pittencrieff car parks to Fife Council’s order for off-street, unmetered parking places was approved by the city of Dunfermline area committee, with the support of councillors and police.
Legal notices will have to be published before the change is implemented.
Those areas affected are the main car park off Pittencrieff Road and the car parks alongside Coal Road and behind the Glen pavilion.
