Thieves have stolen a four-figure sum of money from an elderly woman in Glenrothes.
One of the men knocked on the victim’s door in the Warout area on Saturday while another took the cash while the woman was distracted.
Detective Sergeant Stewart Andrew said: “This was a despicable theft on an elderly lady and has left her extremely distressed.
“It is essential we bring to justice those responsible and I am appealing to anyone who was in the Warout area on Saturday afternoon and saw people acting suspiciously, or who have had strangers calling at their home, to contact us as soon as possible.
“The men who are believed to be responsible are aged between 25 and 45 years old, and one of them may have been wearing a hooded top.
“I am sure the local community shares my determination to catch these criminals and I would appeal to anyone who knows their identity to contact the police in the strictest of confidence, either by calling 101 or passing the information anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111”.
