A major new affordable housing development earmarked for Cupar has taken another significant step forward.
Members of the north east Fife planning committee have given the green light to Kingdom Housing Association’s proposals to build 49 new homes on land adjacent to Pitscottie Road.
The plans have proved contentious in the past and Fife Council received 44 letters of objections from 37 third parties concerned about a range of issues, although approval has now been granted with the added condition that a traffic management system is put in place.
Separate applications for engineering works for the formation of a SUDS basin, and the regrading of land and landscaping works were also rubber-stamped by committee members.
Case officer Derek Simpson said: “The development would result in the provision of affordable housing within an area highlighted as having a shortfall, whilst ensuring no significant adverse impact to road safety and residential amenity issues.
“In terms of urban design, the scheme is considered to connect well with and relate to the surrounding built and natural environment and would respect the character and appearance of the surrounding area.”
Kingdom Housing say the £6 million investment will provide 35 houses and 14 flats that will meet a range of needs for families and older people.
