Burntisland man Charlie Tulloch has received an MBE in recognition of voluntary work spanning over four decades with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution in Kinghorn.
Mr Tulloch (67) was one of the first members to join the lifeboat crew when it was formed in 1964.
When Dr Weir retired in 1993 Mr Tulloch took over as the station’s operations manager and held the post until his own retirement last year.
Charlie said, “This award came as a huge surprise and a great honour.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the station seeing many changes throughout four different stations, four classes of lifeboat, and all the people I have had the opportunity to work with over this time.”
A spokesman for Kinghorn RNLI said, “Everyone at the station is delighted to hear of this fitting and timely award.”
