Kirkcaldy’s iconic town clock has finally been restored to its former glory and for many locals it has not come soon enough.
The timepiece had been “handless” for several weeks after the hands on all four sides were taken away for repairs. However, Fife Council workers have been in action in recent days and the clock is now back up and running a welcome sight for passengers at Kirkcaldy bus station who often rely on it.
The hands were removed after those on the south face had stopped moving due to corrosion. Upon investigation the council found the problem was developing on all four sides and decided to repair all eight hands.
Given the cost of the plant to remove and install the hands, as well as the work itself, it was decided to remove and repair all the hands together.
