Police say Levenmouth child snatcher rumours are ‘categorically untrue’

Fife Constabulary have offered reassurances to the public in the Levenmouth area that rumours of a man in a white van driving around trying to abduct children are ”categorically untrue”.
Police said the rumour began after two boys made an allegation of this nature last Friday, but this turned out to be false and both children admitted to having made the whole thing up.
Detective Sergeant Calum Lawrie, from Levenmouth, said: ”Unfortunately, rumours have already spread and a number of Facebook comments are continuing to spread, causing a false sense of anxiety amongst numerous members of the Levenmouth public with young children.
”There have also been a number of phone calls to Levenmouth Police Station asking if there is anything in these rumours. I wish to reassure everyone that it is categorically untrue and there is no need to worry.”
