St Andrews chef faces critical challenge on Masterchef
ByStefan Morkis
A young St Andrews chef will face a grilling on the quarter-finals of Masterchef: The Professionals tonight.
Jamie Scott (27), who works at Rocca Restaurantl in St Andrews and lives in Arbroath, made his debut appearance on the BBC 2 show last night where he won a coveted spot in tonight’s quarter-finals.
However, to proceed to the semi-finals he will not only need to convince two Michelin-starred chef Marcus Wareing, the formidable Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace that he is worthy of place in the next round but also seasoned food critics Tracey MacLeod, Jay Rayner and William Sitwell.
Tonight the six quarter-finalists will firstly face an invention test where they must create a dish out of scraps before creating a two-course meal for the critics.
Jamie is the third chef with connections to St Andrews to enjoy success in Masterchef: The Professionals in the past two years.
Last year Scott Davies, a chef at The Adamson in St Andrews, and Adam Handling, who worked at The Fairmont, both reached the final of the prestigious competition.
Masterchef: The Professionals is on BBC 2 tonight at 8pm.
