A road worker who lost his temper with a motorist he claimed used his car as a weapon and drove at him has been fined £250.
Anthony Williams, 37, threatened A&E nurse John Kenny with violence and kicked his car during an incident in Glenrothes when he was part of a squad laying speed bumps.
Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard Williams, of Sythrum Crescent, Glenrothes, erupted in a rage when Mr Kenny twice sounded his horn and edged his Citroen Picasso towards him.
When police arrived, Williams continued “ranting and raving” and threatened to assault the 45-year-old nurse unless they arrested him.
The father-of-one, who has a previous conviction for assault, had denied the charges but was convicted of behaving in a threatening manner, shouting and swearing, kicking and damaging a car and uttering threats of violence in Ardross Place and Beaufort Drive on December 13 last year.
Mr Kenny had had exchanges with the squad earlier in the week and the incident occurred when he was signalled by Williams to wait while he finished the job he was doing.
Although accepting Mr Kenny had provoked Williams, Sheriff Alistair Thornton said Williams had overreacted and lost his temper.
Williams was dismissed on the grounds of gross misconduct from his job but was reinstated following an appeal.
