A man has died in a fire in Leven.
The victim, believed to be in his 60s, was already dead when emergency services arrived at the flat in Baird Crescent.
His identity is yet to be established.
An investigation has been launched by Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service into the cause of the blaze.
The alarm was raised shortly after 11am and firefighters rushed to the block of flats.
Firefighters entered the flat and extinguished the fire in the living room.
The man’s body was recovered from the property.
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a 999 call at 11.09am reporting a fire in Baird Crescent, Leven.
“Operations Control Thornton immediately mobilised two appliances from Methil and one appliance from Glenrothes community fire station.
“Four firefighters entered the property wearing breathing apparatus and extinguished the fire.
“There is currently a joint investigation to establish the cause of the fire.”
Police Scotland said inquiries were at an early stage and it was working to identify the victim and the cause of the fire.
