A fourth man has been jailed as the result of a police operation targeting the large-scale supply of class A drugs in west Fife.

James Symons (37), of Dunfermline, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty last month to being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

Last week Ryan McIntyre (29), John McIntyre (31) and Steven Hamill (26) were jailed for 12 months for their involvement in supply of drugs.

The convictions were all thanks to an intelligence-led operation by Police Scotland’s Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit in the Dunfermline area.

Investigating officers searched Symons’ home in Lorimer Gardens for drugs on October 1 and December 17, last year, and January 31, this year.

During the raids they found 235 grams of cocaine worth up to £9400 and mixing agent benzocaine.

They also recovered drugs paraphernalia and mobile phones.

Detective Inspector Graeme Naysmith, of the unit, said: “This intelligence-led operation focused on class A drug supply in the Dunfermline area and it became clear that Symons played a significant part in that.

“Acting on vital information from the public we were able to target Symons and significant evidence gathered against him over a period of months led to a guilty plea in court.

“Police Scotland is committed to keeping people safe and will continue to target serious organised crime groups and remove those responsible for the distribution of drugs from our communities.”
