Controversial new 4am opening for Kitty’s nightclub will “preserve town’s nighttime economy”
ByThe Courier Reporter
The granting of a 4am licence to a Fife nightclub will play a key role in preserving the town’s nighttime economy, it has been claimed.
Councillor Tom Adams, a member of Fife Council’s licensing board, said that the decision to offer Kitty’s a 4am licence on Saturday nights was taken to make the town more attractive to revellers and deter them from travelling to Edinburgh and elsewhere.
Understood to be the first such licence of its kind in Fife, it has been awarded to the Hunter Street venue for a trial six-month period and is only valid on Saturday’s.
Councillor Adams told The Courier: “We have to try and stop people from going over to Edinburgh and try and keep them here.”
