The encounter between members of the self-styled Perthshire Hunt Sabs and the Fife Foxhounds took place near Cupar. It came amid accusations hunters were about to illegally dig up a badger sett where a terrified fox, pursued by hounds, was believed to be hiding. Dramatic videos posted online show footage of the confrontation. The footage has been taken from different angles by Perthshire Hunt Sabs and Grampian Hunt Sabs, whose members were also present. Part of the footage appears to show a terrier man closing his loaded shotgun and pointing it upwards as a protester passes close by. Fife Foxhounds insisted the video had been “carefully edited” and the objectors had “blown the whole thing out of proportion”. Police Scotland said no charges have been brought.
