Four new arrests in Fife’s battle against illegal motorbikes

Police have pledged to continue tackling the menace of illegal motorbikes as it was revealed more arrests have been made.

Operation Ducati is using covert tactics to hunt down bikers who often escape justice by riding at speed off-road.

Police in Fife, who fear someone could be killed by an unlicensed bike, said four youths have been apprehended over the last week following incidents in Methil and East Wemyss.

They also urged members of the public to continue reporting anyone they believe is riding motorcycles illegally.

Community Inspector Tom Brown said: “I am extremely pleased with interventions made by local officers in tackling the illegal and anti-social use of motorcycles in the area.

“It is difficult to apprehend certain individuals at the time of the offence.

“However, information from the public, along with evidence gathered through our inquiries, is leading to the identification of those responsible.

“Operation Ducati will continue over the coming months to address concerns raised by the public.”
