Police have reiterated their call for dog owners to keep their animals under control, after an incident where a sheep sustained serious injuries in Leslie.
The Courier toldhow a ewe sustained significant facial injuries after being attacked by a dog overnight between Monday and Tuesday at West Balgothrie Farm.
The sheep was put down by a vet. An attack was also reported on Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Glenrothes Community Sergeant Kenny Greig said: “This was a particularly vicious attack, which caused the animal in question considerable pain and distress.
“We are thankful that there are many responsible dog owners in our area but we would like to remind everyone of the importance of making sure they are in full control of their pet at all times.
“Offences relating to dogs are taken very seriously by Police Scotland and I would warn dog owners to adhere to our advice, as action will be taken should any offences be reported.”
