A drink-driving RAF airman who flipped a car on to its roof has been fined £325.
Jason Lee Smith was also banned from the road for 15 months at Dundee Sheriff Court after admitting driving the car at “excessive speeds” with a space saver replacement tyre.
Depute fiscal Trina Sinclair told the court: “The car landed on its roof and other motorists assisted.
“The police smelled alcohol from the accused.”
Defending himself, Smith told the court: “We were coming round the corner.
“I had a space-saver tyre on and we started to skid. I tried to correct it and we flipped.
“We both got into an ambulance and were checked out.”
Smith, c/o RAF Station, Leuchars, admitted driving at excessive speeds, driving a car with a space-saver tyre at speeds in excess of the limit for the tyre and losing control of the vehicle causing it to spin, flip over and cause damage to the car and injury to the occupants A914 St Michaels to Newport road, near Pickletillum on August 23.
He also admitted driving with excess alcohol (80 mg) on the same date.
