Up to 10 jobs are to be created at Glenrothes’ new cinema, which opens on October 22.
As The Courier reported on Saturday, usher and projectionist jobs are up for grabs at KINO Cinema, which is managed by entrepreneur Graeme Reekie.
The picture house on Church Street, which was known as Glenrothes Cinema before it closed 12 years ago, has been transformed into a modern movie lover’s paradise.
The grand unveiling will take place on Friday when Warner Brothers fantasy Legend Of The Guardians The Owls Of Ga’Hoole will be screened.
Film fan Graeme, from Leven, has done projection work at the Cork Film Festival and at The Cameo in Edinburgh’s Tollcross.
He told The Courier, “It’s been a pretty crazy last few months, getting the place organised, but I’ve had a lot of help from my family and friends which I’m very thankful for.
“I’m also grateful to all the tradesmen involved in turning the place around as well as Omnex Pro Film, Outbreak Pictures and of course all the loyal supporters who have signed up to the KINO Cinema Facebook page, which now has an incredible 2000 fans.”
He added, “I’ve put my heart and soul into this project and haven’t had a day off in over a month. It’s been a lot of hard work as the building is 30 years old and the whole place needed completely gutted and redesigned.”
Graeme, who studied journalism at Adam Smith College, said, “All the hard work has paid off and it’s looking fantastic inside. We’ve also put in a really nice lounge bar where cinema-goers can enjoy before and after-film drinks.
“With regard to the two screening rooms themselves, we’ve put in some modern new seating, with the emphasis on customer comfort. Our ultimate aim is to give the people of Fife a really intimate cinema experience with a strong focus on the customer and their needs and I look forward to seeing our new patrons later this month.”
Graeme is hoping to eventually install disabled access and has submitted plans to Fife Council.
Although the launch night will be restricted to invited guests, customers can visit thereafter.
From November 3D films will be shown, starting with Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.
Initially tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis but plans are in the pipeline for booking options.
