Almost 200 pupils had a day off school on Tuesday due to a gas leak.
Warout Primary and Community School in Glenrothes was closed all day because of the problem, caused by a malfunctioning gas boiler.
Head teacher Carole Storrs said: ”The school has been closed because of a gas leak caused by a faulty gas boiler and unfortunately there is no heating, nor hot water.
”Closing the school is always a last resort but health and safety is always a priority.”
The primary school, which is across from the town’s main shopping centre, has eight classes and the roll comprises 178 pupils.
It is expected to reopen today.
