A Fife youth bit a policeman on the arm after officers were called to his home to deal with an incident.
Reece Sealey, 17, of Wilson Street in Cowdenbeath, admitted that on September 27 he assaulted a police officer by biting him on the body, to his injury.
At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, depute fiscal Sam Johnston said police received an anonymous 999 call and arrived to find Sealey in an “animated state”.
“As they took hold of him to try and control him, he lunged at one of the officers and bit him on the right arm,” Mr Johnston said.
The bite caused swelling but no medical attention was required.
Defence solicitor Selina Mackay told the court her client was a first offender, had been drinking and was embarrassed by his actions.
Sheriff Craig McSherry fined Sealey £240 and ordered him to pay £300 compensation to the injured officer.
