St Andrews University scientist faces sex assault charges

A St Andrews scientist has been remanded in custody accused of two serious sexual assaults in the town last month.
Pasquale Galianni, a research student in astronomy, made a private appearance at Cupar Sheriff Court accused of sexual offences.
No further details about the nature of the charges were revealed but the Crown Office confirmed Pasquale made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
The 30-year-old, who lives in the town, is expected to make a second appearance in court next week.
