Man jailed after drunken rampage in Victoria Hospital

A Kelty man has been jailed for 10 months after a sheriff became tired of his constant drunken and unruly behaviour.
Darren Stewart, of Loch Leven Terrace, was found unconscious by police officers in the street near his home on July 6.
Stewart, 27, had consumed so much alcohol he passed out and when he was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy he began to hassle and verbally abuse staff.
Stewart admitted that he hindered two nurses, attempted to strike one on the head and repeatedly shouted and swore and kicked items of furniture and walls. He also assaulted two men by spitting at them and attempting to butt them.
He also pleaded guilty that, when travelling between Victoria Hospital and Dunfermline Police Station, he repeatedly shouted, swore and made threats to kill officers.
Stewart had been granted bail on both June 9 and July 2 at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday, Sheriff James Williamson told Stewart prison was now the only option.
