Two women taken to hospital after road accident in Fife

Two women have been taken to hospital following a two-car collision on the A92 near Ladybank.
The accident happened just before 8am on Friday between Ladybank and Melville Lodges roundabout and involved a Toyota Aygo and a Peugot 106.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service added: “The incident was reported by the Scottish Ambulance Service and Operations Control Thornton immediately sent appliances from Auchtermuchty and Glenrothes fire stations to the scene.
“On arrival firefighters assisted the Scottish Ambulance Service to safely remove one female casualty from one of the vehicles.
“Firefighters had to use cutting gear to safely remove the female casualty in the second vehicle who was trapped by the steering wheel.
“They were both placed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and taken to hospital for further treatment.
A Police Scotland spokesman said both womens injuries were “not serious”.
As a result of the accident the road was closed in both directions for some time, causing major rush-hour tailbacks between Fife and Dundee.
