Final preparations are under way ahead of the opening of the Lammas Market in St Andrews.
However, residents and visitors are being warned of a number of road closures ahead of the opening of the fair on Friday.
A number of routes in the town centre will be affected, although Fife Council has stressed retailers will be open for business as usual Keith Jackson, Fife Council parks and community officer, said: “We’re working closely with the Merchants’ Association and I would like to stress that despite the road closures, the retailers will be operating as normal, with shops open for business during their normal operating hours.
“The Lammas Market is one of Europe’s medieval markets and is well worth the visit, with any profit from the event going directly to the St Andrews Common Good Fund.”
The funfair and continental market open on Market Street on Friday and will run until Tuesday, from 11am-11pm daily.
Next Monday and Tuesday will also see market traders opening up on South Street, running from 11am to midnight on the first day and 11am to 11pm the following day.
Meanwhile, motorists are being reminded of major roadworks currently under way in Guardbridge.
The A91 New Bridge is reduced to one lane, with three-way traffic signals in place on that stretch.
Drivers are being advised to find an alternative route to St Andrews, avoiding Guardbridge.
Murray Scott, the local authority’s lead professional for structures, said: “We apologise for the unavoidable delays that will occur whilst we undertake these necessary works.”
The roadworks are expected to be completed by Monday August 18.
