Glenrothes man disgusted by his ‘go back to England’ outburst in Dundee student union

A man who racially abused a barman at the Dundee Student Union said he was disgusted with himself as one of his foster parents is Nepalese.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard how Dean Chambers, 24, shouted “go back to England, you don’t belong here” during an argument on August 31.
Chambers, of Traves Place, Glenrothes, admitted behaving in a racially aggravated manner during the incident which occurred shortly after 2am.
Defence solicitor Ross Bennett said it was his first offence and he was “somewhat taken aback” by it as one of his foster parents is Nepalese.
He added there is a high likelihood of Chambers losing his employment as a security officer as a result of the offence.
Fining Chambers £200, Sheriff Elizabeth Munro told him he was going to pay a “high price” for his moment of stupidity.
She said: “I trust Mr Bennett’s judgment that you are a decent young man and that you don’t normally behave in this way but it is done now and you have got a criminal record.”
