Former Kirkcaldy school building snapped up by developer

A former Kirkcaldy school could be set for a new lease of life, after it was confirmed the building has been sold.
The former Abbotshall Primary School has been purchased by developers, although its future is still unknown.
The Ramsay Road building has been derelict for a number of years but was bought for a knockdown price. Despite a guide price of £110,000, the property is understood to have been snapped up for just £46,500.
Because the building is C-listed, however, demolition is unlikely unless a valid case can be made to councillors and Historic Scotland.
It means that renovation as office space or housing is the most likely use for the structure.
Opened in 1891 by Sir Michael Barker Nairn, the original school building was extended in 1898 to accommodate an infant school.
More recently, the building was used as a social work office but it became surplus to requirements and was closed in 2011.
