Young athlete inspired after meeting Commonwealth Games star Eilidh Child
ByLeeza Clark
A young Fife athlete was lost for words when he bumped into a Commonwealth sporting star.
Callum Sloan, who comes from Dunfermline, was just about to start his training session at Pitreavie with Disability Sport Fife athletics coach Pamela Robson when he noticed Commonwealth Games silver medallist Eilidh Child was training at the same time.
Eilidh took time to chat to Callum about her games experiences and asked about his athletics aspirations.
Although speechless for most of the time, Callum was massively inspired at meeting the Scottish superstar and put in one of his most committed training sessions of the year, according to his coach.
Callum is a rising star in Scottish junior disability athletics.
Since receiving his first racing chair from the fundraising efforts of the students from the netball club at St Andrews University he has gone from strength to strength.
Callum is training hard and hopes to participate in his first London mini marathon next year.
He competes in class T53.
