British Golf Museum’s rooftop cafe starts to take shape

Work is well under way to create a new rooftop caf as part of the expansion and redesign of the British Golf Museum in St Andrews.
The museum will reopen to the public in June 2015, in time for the Open at St Andrews.
A spokesman for the museum said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank the local community and all of our visitors for their continued support and understanding during this time of change at the museum and look forward to welcoming them back to the museum for its relaunch in 2015.”
The Courier revealed in February that the museum had been given permission to expand its premises upwards on the Bruce Embankment.
The caf will have seating for 80 and an outdoor terrace with views across West Sands toward the Old Course.
The museum says the new caf will enhance the museum experience for its local, UK-wide and overseas visitors, add to the lively ambience around the area of the Bruce Embankment, encourage more visitors to the museum and provide a refreshment point for non-museum visitors in the area.
