A Fife rugby player has been jailed for six years for rape.
Girvin Imrie, 25, an engineer from Cupar, grabbed his victim, who was drunk and incapable of giving consent, from behind and raped her in a garden just hours after playing in a sevens tournament.
The attack took place behind Howe of Fife Rugby Club on May 5 2013. His victim was 19 at the time.
He was found guilty at the High Court in Glasgow earlier this month. He had denied the charges.
Appearing for sentencing before Lord Kinclaven at the High Court in Edinburgh today, Imrie was told he had committed a serious sexual assault and there was no alternative to prison.
