RAF Leuchars personnel have been recognised for their outstanding service to the station and the Ministry of Defence.
At a ceremony held in the officers’ mess, Air Officer Scotland and Station Commander of RAF Leuchars, Air Commodore Gerry Mayhew, presented the awards.
These included four Operational Service Medals, given to personnel for recent service in Afghanistan.
Among the recipients was Squadron Leader Edward Larkin.
Sqn Ldr Larkin is a reservist doctor who, as part of 612 (County of Aberdeen) Squadron, deployed this year to Camp Bastion in Helmand Province. He said of his experience: “The tour was a challenging combination of military clinical practice in a gruelling climate.
“That I could help my team deliver outstanding service in this environment, whilst working with and alongside coalition partners and Afghan nationals, is testament to the excellent training I received as part of 612 Squadron.”
Air Commodore Mayhew said: “I am delighted to have been able to recognise the exceptional service given by our personnel, regular, reservist and civilian, here today in front of their families and friends.”
