Investigation after cat is deliberately poisoned in Fife
ByMichael Alexander
The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a cat was deliberately poisoned in Fife.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted when a black male cat was found dead at the beginning of September in Harris Drive, Kirkcaldy.
Scottish SPCA Chief Superintendent Mike Flynn said, “A post mortem examination revealed the cat died as a result of anti-freeze poisoning.
“His owners have been notified and are understandably distressed at this time.
“Our investigation is on-going and we are currently appealing to the public to get in touch if they have any information which might help us identify the person responsible.
“Poisoning causes an animal an extremely painful death so we would advise cat owners in the area to be vigilant and report anything suspicious.”
Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Scottish SPCA’s animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
