Thousands of modified cars from Scotland and beyond are gearing up to hit Kirkcaldy this weekend.
Up to 3,000 motoring enthusiasts are expected to descend on the Esplanade on Saturday for 2fife2furious to honour a Hollywood actor killed in a road accident.
The road is being closed for the second tribute to Paul Walker, who starred in the Fast and the Furious films.
Walker was a passenger in a Porsche which smashed into a lamp-post and burst into flames in California in November last year.
Due to his role in the Fast and Furious street racing film series, the 40-year-old actor had a huge following among car enthusiasts and thanks to social media the memorial planned by local petrolheads just days after his death drew more than 2,500 vehicles.
It was deemed such a success that the motoring extravaganza is being repeated on Saturday, with the hope it will become annual.
One of the organisers James Stephen, of N/A Nonsense Racing, said: “This will be one of the highlights of the Scottish modified car scene.”
Most motoring enthusiasts’ passion for cars, he explained, was inspired by Walker’s role in the Fast and the Furious.
He said: “The franchise outsold Star Wars at the cinema. For us it is equivalent to Luke Skywalker dying.”
A spokesman for co-organisers Team VIP said: “After the success of last year we knew it had to happen again.
“This time we have worked with the police and local council to organise the road closure and manage the event properly. It should be a great event with a lot of local businesses benefiting and taking part.”
Police Scotland said appropriate resources would be deployed to ensure the event runs smoothly.
A spokesman said: “We would encourage responsible behaviour when arriving and departing from the event.
“In addition, a traffic officer will be present to offer people advice on driving responsibly and on the legality of modifications that can be made to cars.”
The Esplanade will be closed between Lidl and Morrisons at 3pm to allow access for participants and trade stalls.
Show cars will be parked along the street with racing in the basin car park. The show will run from about 5.30pm to 9pm, with the Esplanade reopened at 10pm.
