The accident happened near the Cairnfield Muir area of Ladybank just before 6pm and involved a Vauxhall Astra and a Honda Civic. Police and ambulance paramedics attended the scene as well as two fire appliances from Cupar and one from Auchtermuchty. Firefighters had to use cutting equipment to take the roof off the car to free the casualty. He was then taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, where he was treated for minor chest pain. Police said the accident caused some tailbacks but the road did not need to be closed.
