South West Fife area committee has given the green light to nearly £1.3 million of road improvements.
This will include work to improve roads, footways and street lighting during 2014/15.
As well as the planned road improvements, Fife Council is also entering the ninth year of an 11-year project to replace old street lighting columns, an investment of £40m.
It is also the third year of a lighting efficiency project that will replace 42,000 lightbulbs with energy-efficient ones at a cost of £8.7m over a six-year period.
Pat Callaghan, transport and environment spokesman, said: “In Fife we’re committed to investing significant funding to look after our transport network.
“This is vital for Fife’s economy and will benefit everybody travelling through Fife for work, business and pleasure.”
South west Fife committee chairman Bobby Clelland said: “This is a great investment for south west Fife.
“Transportation and environmental services is continuing to prioritise works that will have the most impact on our local road network, towns and villages for the money we have available.”
