A Fife motorcycling stalwart, Alf Peatman, has died. He was 85.
The Peatman name is well known in motorcycle racing circles in Scotland. Alfred Edward Peatman was the elder son of Alf Sr and Margaret Peatman.
Mr Peatman Sr was owner of the AE Peatman & Sons Motorcycle and Light Car Garage on the Thornton road just outside Kirkcaldy.
He was raised into the motorcycle racing family where his father, a very successful sand racing exponent, encouraged both Alf and younger brother Bill on to two wheels.
Both sons were, like their father, members of the Kirkcaldy and District Motor Club and became regular Beveridge Park competitors between 1950 and 1966.
They dominated the smaller capacity classes at circuits like Gask and Crimond as well as the Kirkcaldy circuit.
Mr Peatman is survived by brother Bill and sister Helen. His funeral is at Kirkcaldy Crematorium at 12.45pm on Monday.
