Godzilla feeling turtley at home at Deep Sea World
ByLeeza Clark
A fearsome looking creature has snapped up a new “des res” in Fife.
Godzilla, a giant alligator snapping turtle, has moved into a Bayou-themed display at Deep Sea World.
Native to the south-eastern states of the US, it is the largest freshwater turtle in the world but is increasingly rare because of the loss of its habitat. It is also hunted and eaten by humans.
Godzilla, who got his name due to his terrifying appearance, was rescued by animal charity Specialist Wildlife Services.
Since arriving in North Queensferry he has almost doubled in size, and aquarists wanted to provide him with a suitable new residence.
