Reckless vandals have chucked a brick at a passing car in Glenrothes.
Police in Fife are looking for three youths following the “incredibly dangerous” attack, which happened on Tuesday.
A brick was thrown from a footbridge that runs over the Kinglassie Road, hitting a black Ford Fiesta as it was travelling from Bankhead roundabout towards Stenton at around 5pm.
It struck the windscreen and bonnet, forcing the driver to stop the car.
No one was injured and officers are keen to trace three male youths, thought to be in their mid-to-late teens, who were seen on the bridge at the time.
Constable Susan Todd said: “This was an incredibly dangerous thing for a person to do, which showed utter disregard for the consequences.
“We have seen incidents similar to this in other parts of the country that have resulted in fatalities so it was lucky that the driver managed to keep his car on the road and not crash given the fright that he must have got.”
She urged anyone who saw someone on the footbridge, or perhaps anyone at the Glamis end of the bridge or running away from the scene into the Stenton area, to contact the force at any police station or by calling 101.
