A young Fife filmmaker has been nominated in the Scottish Baftas to recognise new talent across the country.
Laura Wadha, 19, from Glenrothes, got the nod in the Director of Photography category for her short film, Hester, in this year’s British Academy Scotland New Talent Awards, which gives Scotland’s burgeoning filmmakers a chance to showcase their work.
Laura, who graduated in HND Television from Edinburgh’s Telford College last year, filmed Hester in Tentsmuir Forest for her final college project.
She was mentored by Pete Rabjohns and Pete Marshall from Colinsburgh Community Cinema, which will screen the film at its 100th showing on March 28.
“Bafta Scotland is dedicated to nurturing emerging talent in Scotland and we’re very excited by the incredible quality of entrants this year,” said Jude MacLaverty, director of Bafta Scotland.
“There’s no shortage of talent in Scotland today and we look forward to unveiling the winners later this month.”
The awards ceremony will take place at The Arches, Glasgow, next Tuesday, March 25.
