Cat and kittens cruelly abandoned in Glenrothes on same day

A cat and three kittens have been abandoned in Glenrothes in two separate incidents.
The Scottish SPCA was called to St Clair vets after a member of the public discovered three kittens, only seven weeks old, dumped in a box at the back of the building last Friday.
Later the same day an officer had to rescue an adult cat which had been cruelly abandoned in a closed cardboard box.
The female white and black cat, now named Sam, was found at the back door of the PDSA charity shop in Lyon Square at the Kingdom Centre. All are now being cared for by the charity.
Senior Inspector Steven Gray said: “In both cases, whoever abandoned Sam and the kittens may have thought they were leaving them somewhere safe where they would be found, but it doesn’t change the fact that abandoning an animal is a very cruel act and is also an offence.”
The kittens are doing well and Sam is also healthy but was petrified at being left in a closed box. Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006.
Anyone who recognises Sam or the kittens is being urged to contact the helpline on 03000 999999.
