The On The Rocks Festival kicks off this week in St Andrews with the support of some celebrity A-listers.
And one of the event’s famous patrons, Dame Helen Mirren, has donated a signed script of her West End play The Audience and other memorabilia, which will be up for grabs at a fundraising silent auction starting this evening in The Rector’s Cafe.
Festival spokeswoman Haley Scheer said the silent auction would be continuing throughout this week to raise money for the event, which aims to showcase the arts while building links with the community.
Dame Helen said: “I’m very pleased to congratulate the St Andrews Students’ Association and send my good wishes and support for this platform for the exciting new talents growing in and around St Andrews.
“This is the future and we will all be the better for giving it a chance to flourish.”
The festival’s other patrons include Dame Judi Dench, Sir Sean Connery, Joanna Lumley, Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis.
This year’s programme gets under way on Friday and runs until Sunday April 13. It includes art, photography, film, theatre, dance, fashion, music and comedy.
