Liam Police are investigating the tragic death of a two-year-old boy at his home in Thornton, Fife, on Saturday night (22/3/14). Liam Fee lived at the address with his mother Rachael and her partner Nyomi and Rachael's twin boys, Matthew and Joseph, 7. Rachael, who is in a civil partnership with Nyomi.

A Dunfermline man who assaulted a woman in the Thornton home of tragic toddler Liam Fee has been fined.

Sean Catherall, of Haig Crescent, was charged with assaulting Nyomi Fee, 26, in April last year.

The 27-year-old punched her on the head and pulled her hair out during the attack.

He then shoved her to the ground where she smacked against a table, injuring herself, at an address on Donald Crescent, Thornton.

Catherall had admitted that, on April 14 2013, at an address on Donald Crescent, Thornton, he assaulted Nyomi Fee and grabbed her, punched her head, pulled her hair out and pulled her to the ground, whereby she struck a table, all to her injury.

Catherall was due to be sentenced earlier this month but failed to appear.

At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, Catherall’s solicitor Raymond Wachtell said his client had mistimed his travel arrangements when trying to attend the court. Sheriff Max Hendry had previously deferred sentence for Catherall to be of good behaviour and fined him £150.

Ms Fee is the civil partner of Rachael Fee, 30, the mother of two-year-old Liam, who died in an incident in the house last month. The two women and Liam shared the house with Rachael’s elder twin sons.

Police said the death was due to a “tragic set of circumstances” and they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

The couple, who made a commitment in a civil partnership ceremony, were making a fresh start away from their home town of Newcastle.
