Man in court accused of burning dog to death in Kirkcaldy woodland

A 23-year-old man has appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court accused of burning a dog to death in a Fife woodland.
Alastair Graham, of no fixed abode, appeared in private on Tuesday charged with offences under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006.
He made no plea or declaration and Graham was remanded in custody pending further examination.
The case relates to a Staffordshire cross dog which was tied to a tree, doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire in Dunnikier Woods, Kirkcaldy, last month.
Graham was also charged with housebreaking with intent to steal, attempted robbery and malicious mischief.
Graham appeared alongside Steven Gourdie, 23, also of no fixed abode.
Gourdie also faced charges of housebreaking with intent to steal and attempted robbery. He made no plea and the case was continued for further investigation, with Gourdie remanded in custody.
Gourdie was not charged with any offence against animals.
Both men are expected to make their next court appearance within eight days.
