Another suspected case of the potentially deadly E coli 0157 has been linked to a Fife restaurant.
Five confirmed and seven suspected instances of the infection, which can cause severe vomiting and diarrhoea, have been associated with Khushi’s Indian restaurant in Dunfermline.
None of the people affected is in hospital and all are recovering at home.
Khushi’s had been closed to customers following the outbreak but has now reopened after deep cleaning and other public health measures.
The restaurant’s management is continuing to cooperate fully with Fife Council’s environmental health team.
Dr Margaret Hannah, consultant in public health medicine at NHS Fife, said: “Khushi’s continues to work closely with both ourselves and our partners in public health and we are grateful for their cooperation.
“I would reiterate that the E coli 0157 infection can be very serious and I would advise anyone who has experienced symptoms such as diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, bloody stools, stomach pain and fever to contact their GP or telephone NHS 24 on 111, particularly if they ate at Khushi’s in early May.”
