‘Unique’ Fife singer in final of TeenStar competition

A talented Methil teenager is the only Scot to make it to the finals of the TeenStar auditions.
Toni Boyle will perform at the grand final of the UK-wide music competition in Birmingham on July 19.
The 17-year-old singer plays the guitar and writes her own material. At the final she will perform in front of a huge crowd that includes music industry insiders, celebrity guests, national press and record label A&R.
Proud mum Karen said Toni has been writing her own songs since she was 15.
“If you listen to some of her songs, the words are amazing,” she said. “She’s been writing poems since she was six.”
Toni impressed at the Scottish auditions to win a place at the area finals in Manchester. The Manchester judging panel included Aziz Ibrahim, who has played guitar for the Stone Roses, Paul Weller and Simply Red, and BRIT Award judge Asher Halle.
Of Toni’s performance, they said: “Fantastic closing song, unique vocal sound and a brilliant mash up of songs.”
